Chapter 8 LEVEL 4 part 2

Recently we study each chapter faster and today I finished the chapter 8. In chapter 8 I talked about the neighbors and neighborhood. However we don’t talk with neighbors basically in Japan and I’ve rarely told with my neighbors. Anyway each chapter (1 – 11) are connected with same topics and topics about daily life aren’t difficult for me. At LEVEL 3, I learned how to look for, lent and move, but today I learned how to explain my neighborhoods. It’s easy but I couldn’t speak in detail. I also learned “(seems, looks, sounds, feels) like” and I felt it was difficult. I can’t use certainly. “feel like noun.”

Condo = condominium : individual ownership of a unit in a multiunit structure (as an apartment building) or on land owned in common (as a town house complex)
Tenant : one who has the occupation or temporary possession of lands or tenements of another; specifically : one who rents or leases (as a house) from a landlord

Chapter 7 LEVEL 4

Today I learned about “errands” and “chores”, and at last I could understand the difference between “errands” and “chores”. Also I practiced causative sentences. Maybe I gradually used to speak. Today we talk about our real errands or chores. I think topics itself weren’t difficult. Then I learned “making excuse”. Generally we make excused when we tell a lie. Anyway recently I have a long free talk time, but I can’t speak fluently. Still I can’t make a story in English well. So I should do a free discussion over thirty minutes. I think I should have more opportunities talk in English. In the future I’ll go abroad and try!

I can’t find cool whip anywhere in Japan. There is nowhere I can buy it in Japan. In America, I can find it everywhere. I thought there would be some where I could buy it in Tokyo, but there isn’t.

Chapter 7 LEVEL4

Today, my lesson was about “errands and chores”. However I haven’t used this word so first I couldn’t understand the meanings. “Errand” means an oral message entrusted to a person or a short trip taken to attend to some business often for another (was on an errand for his mother). For example errands are housework such as cooking, cleaning, laundry etc. “Chore ” means the regular or daily light work of a household or farm. For me it was difficult what is errands or not because I haven’t used to use this expression. Today I also learned a causative verb(have, get, let) again. I think it’s difficult to use at conversation, because I can’t order something in English yet. So first I should use this expression on writing.

City hall : the chief administrative building of a city
Prescription : a written direction for a therapeutic or corrective agent; specifically : one for the preparation and use of a medicine
Interrogate : to question formally and systematically

LEVEL4 Chapter6 Review

Today’s lesson was review about chapter 1 to 5. First I told about myself because I’ve had several big events in a few months. I think I’ve been very busy and haven’t able to relax at weekend. When it rains, it pours. I think today’s teacher spoke faster but I could catch him, so my listening ability is exactly improved. We enjoyed small talk for thirty minutes, I had a lesson. However today’s lesson is presentation! Teacher gave me some topic and I presented about it. I took care to speech in detail and I could manage to do. My teacher evaluate my presentation is better than other students. I was very pleased. The results of my daily effort bear fruits. Anyway through this chapter, I want get the ability to speak in detail, because the purpose of this chapter is it.

NHK English programs

Yesterday, I wrote about NHK English programs. When I was a junior high school students, I heard NHK “基礎英語”, but I didn’t like listening it. Anyway at that time there only 2 or 3 programs, I think so. However to my surprise there are over twenty programs. I think the reason is English becomes more important now. I think these program is better than PODCAST, because quality and reference are very good. The program times is not too long and short, so I can concentrate well. Of course it’s free to listen. If I can record it, I feel more comfortable. I wonder what textbook for a business English should I use, but now I can listen two programs. I think program quality of NHK is better than other broadcasting stations or TV stations. Next year if I will a lottery, I’ll buy IC recorder with radio.
